Competition on the New York route heats up: Israir received approval ahead of flights to the USA

Also: The Strauss Group is launching an initiative inviting Israelis to discover the North through trips. Events and appointments.

1. Aviation
Approaching New York: A report to the stock exchange by the Israir Group shows that the airline has received an updated specification from the Civil Aviation Authority for the operation of wide-body aircraft, covering North America and the North Atlantic. This means Israir will be able to operate the Airbus A330 aircraft, purchased for approximately 85 million dollars, on a new route to New York.
This approval joins an earlier authorization received from the US Department of Transportation. Now, only one barrier remains: approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
If there are no surprises, Israir is expected to join El Al and Arkia, becoming the third Israeli company to operate flights to the USA. At the same time, next month the American companies Delta and United are expected to return to the country, significantly increasing flight availability. Simultaneously, American Airlines announced this week that it will not return to Israel before March.
2. Festival
The 'Hezi Hinam' chain is celebrating the summer with "FestiAugust" — an alcohol festival across its branches. The event features profitable promotions on beers, wines, and other spirits, attractive discounts in all departments, as well as tasting stands, snacks, and bouzouki players. The event will continue until August 16, 2026.
3. Trips
Strauss Group is launching an initiative inviting Israelis to discover the North through trips that combine culinary experiences, nature, and family activities. Influencers including Nadav Bornstein, Liel Eli, and Kobi Adri will curate travel routes, which they will experience and share on social networks. The routes include about 70 local businesses, among them Tabor Winery, HaBokrim Restaurant, and Marom Golan Hotel.
