Competition between malls intensifies: new attraction at Big Glilot
Big is launching a covered and air-conditioned padel complex with an investment of 3 million shekels, in response to the Gravity complex that Seven Stars opened last month. Ben Zini, his brother Omri, and Gilad Adin will operate the complex, which will also feature a pickleball court and a teqball table.
The competition between the Seven Stars mall and the Big Glilot mall is intensifying. The rivalry is now focused on the family entertainment arena, which has become a primary target for malls as the fashion sector—once the main crowd-puller—experiences a slowdown. While attractions draw children, they arrive accompanied by parents, most of whom also shop during their visit.
Next week, Big will inaugurate a covered and air-conditioned padel complex. According to the announcement, it will be the largest in Israel, with an investment of 3 million shekels. The sport has recently become trendy in Israel, attracting audiences of all ages.
The complex will be located on the -3 parking level, spanning an air-conditioned area of 2,000 square meters. It will feature five padel courts, each accommodating two pairs of players. The complex will be operated by brothers Ben and Omri Zini, along with partner Gilad Adin, a former television presenter. It will also include a pickleball court and a teqball table, aiming to allow visitors to combine sports with social leisure.
"When we decided to establish the padel complex, it was important for us to find a place that would be central, accessible, and dynamic—a location that attracts diverse audiences and offers much more than just the game itself. The choice of Big Glilot was natural for us, thanks to the combination of location, accessibility, and the character of an entertainment center," stated Ben Zini, Omri Zini, and Gilad Adin.
As previously reported, Seven Stars inaugurated the "Gravity" attractions complex last month with an investment of 50 million shekels. Located in the space formerly occupied by the mall's cinema, it includes suspended karting tracks, a gymboree, arcade machines, and virtual reality rooms. The complex has enjoyed significant success so far.
Competition between the city's malls is becoming increasingly significant. This month, Big placed billboards at the entrance to the Seven Stars mall, directing those arriving at Seven Stars to continue to Big Glilot, while noting the travel time required to reach the Big complex.
