After Manor Solomon was officially presented as a player for West Ham, currently in the Championship, new details regarding the Israel national team midfielder's contract have emerged. As first revealed by ynet, a special clause was inserted into Solomon's deal: if he participates in at least 20 matches during his third season at West Ham, the club is obligated to extend his contract for a fourth season.
Solomon, who left Tottenham after three years of struggling to establish himself—spending time on loan at Leeds, Villarreal, and Fiorentina—was presented at West Ham wearing the number 10 shirt. The Israeli may make his debut for the Hammers as early as Sunday against Burnley, where he is expected to fill the void left by Dutchman Crysencio Summerville, who ultimately signed with the Saudi club Al-Hilal.
West Ham will pay Tottenham five million pounds for Solomon, a deal that could rise to seven million pounds if the club secures promotion to the Premier League. Additionally, Tottenham retains a 10 percent sell-on clause for any future transfer of the player.
Solomon is expected to earn approximately two million pounds per season. However, another significant detail has surfaced: should West Ham be promoted to the Premier League at the end of this season, the Israeli's salary will increase to three million pounds per season—the same amount he earned at Tottenham over the last three years. In such a scenario, Tottenham will even assist in covering Solomon's salary during the first season following promotion to the top flight.
The move to West Ham is also set to produce intriguing encounters with other Israelis in the Championship. In about two weeks, an Israeli derby will take place when Solomon's West Ham meets Daniel Peretz's Southampton in the second round of the League Cup.
