The famous singer deletes her last name: "Relationships have changed"
The pop star is causing a stir by removing her last name from all official accounts. Alongside preparations for her tenth album, the singer is also dealing with deep grief following the passing of her godmother, Dolly Parton.

A surprising move on social media is sparking great curiosity surrounding pop star Miley Cyrus: the 33-year-old singer has mysteriously removed her last name from all her official social media accounts, and now appears under the name "Miley" only. Cyrus did not provide an official explanation for the change, but uploaded two new photos in a red-and-black look to her Instagram account, alongside the focused caption "MILEY".
The dramatic change is apparently part of the beginning of a new era in her career, after she signed last month with the label Atlantic Records. The move comes in parallel with intensive work on her 10th album, which is expected to be released later this year and serve as a continuation of her 2025 album, "Something Beautiful".
In a recent interview she gave to Wonderland magazine alongside actress Daryl Hannah, Cyrus shared about the personal and musical process she is undergoing:
"This album is a love story, but love stories are never one-dimensional. There are threads of romance in it because it is a reflection of my life, but the most significant experience is the peaceful love I found within myself. When your relationship with yourself changes, all the relationships around you change."
The singer, who won a Grammy and has been engaged to producer Max Morando since September 2025, defined the current period as deep personal development. Alongside the professional changes, Cyrus is also dealing with a difficult personal loss these days. Last week, the singer was documented entering recording studios in Los Angeles in a black, mourning look, just hours after the news of the death of her beloved godmother, country legend Dolly Parton, who passed away at the age of 80 after a battle with cancer, was revealed.
Cyrus paid tribute to Parton in an emotional post on Instagram:
"I have an angel by my side, I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis. I will always love her and want to make her proud, my heart is broken."
As recalled, this is not the first time the star has revealed personal and complex details from her life. Back in 2022, Cyrus revealed in a candid interview several details from her past, including the difficult dilemma that accompanied her during the days of "Hannah Montana", a role that caused her to live for years in duality with two different characters simultaneously, and she even shared openly about the complex and negative experience she had from the first intimate event of her life.
