Golani Brigade reveals scale of threat in Lebanon: over 400 infrastructures destroyed

The IDF announced on Wednesday that the Golani Brigade Combat Team, operating under the 36th Division in southern Lebanon's security zone, has destroyed over 400 terrorist infrastructures and seized numerous weapons in recent weeks. The operation aims to neutralize threats to Israel and IDF forces in the region.

According to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, Golani forces have been focusing on locating and dismantling infrastructure and weaponry that could be used to harm Israel and military personnel. During the operation, forces seized anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles, explosive devices, Kalashnikov-style rifles, and mortar shells.

The IDF emphasized that these operations are intended to prevent Hezbollah from targeting Israeli citizens and military forces. The official statement reads:

"The IDF will not allow the terrorist organization Hezbollah to harm the citizens of the State of Israel and its forces, and will continue to act to remove threats and remain committed to the ceasefire agreement."

In July, the IDF reported the discovery of Hezbollah weapons depots containing launchers, machine guns, and missiles. Similar raids occurred in April, when troops uncovered ammunition stockpiles, explosive drones, remote-controlled explosive systems, and military equipment. In those operations, armed terrorists posing an immediate threat were eliminated in close-quarters combat and drone strikes.

A significant engagement took place in March, when Golani forces identified armed terrorists in several locations in southern Lebanon. During the ensuing battles and with air support, eight terrorists were killed, including a member of the Radwan Force's sniper array. Following the engagement, troops located an underground shaft leading to a bunker filled with dozens of weapons, which was subsequently destroyed.

One of the most significant operations began in late May, when the Northern Command launched an extensive offensive on the Beaufort ridge and the Nahal Saluki area. The operation involved the 7th Brigade, Givati, fire support units, and the Multidimensional Unit, all under the command of the 36th Division and guided by Aman intelligence. The goal was to expand the forward defense line and remove direct threats to the Galilee Panhandle and Metula. Forces secured the Beaufort and Ali Taher ridges, uncovering extensive underground and surface infrastructure built by Hezbollah over many years.

Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, who visited Beaufort in July, described the area as having been turned by Hezbollah, with Iranian funding and guidance, into a "space saturated with terrorist infrastructure." He noted that for decades, underground facilities had been carved into the mountains for use as command centers, combat management hubs, firing positions, and launch sites for attacks on northern communities.
