"The Good Box": Hundreds of school kits distributed to families across the country
Ahead of the new school year, the "Good Box" project by the "Ruach Tova" association (Arison Group) operated across 13 local authorities, engaging residents, businesses, and volunteers in a sustainability-focused initiative. Just before the start of the school year, with its familiar rush of preparing backpacks, pencil cases, and notebooks, a national project has once again proven the power of a mobilized community. As part of the "Good Box" project by the "Ruach Tova" association (Arison Group), more than 600 school supply kits were collected over two weeks and delivered to families in need across the country.
This community-environmental project, based on the collection, sorting, and distribution of equipment, took place this year in 13 local authorities, spanning from Tiberias, Afula, Beit She'an, Tirat Carmel, and Yokneam in the north, through Petah Tikva, Givat Shmuel, Ness Ziona, and Beit El, to Yavne, Ashdod, Be'er Tuvia, and Kiryat Gat in the south.
Hundreds of stores, municipal centers, and community hubs served as collection points where residents donated new or gently used items in excellent condition, including backpacks, pencil cases, writing utensils, notebooks, and school shirts. For the first time, corporate participation was introduced: 17 commercial companies joined the project, with employees donating equipment that was transferred to local authorities nearby.
At the project's peak, community events were held in participating municipalities, where families, children, and volunteers sorted and packed the collected items together ahead of distribution.
"The 'Good Box' project has proven again what happens when we share resources and reuse equipment," says Rafi Alul, Chairman of the "Ruach Tova" association. "The impressive response from the public and authorities across the country creates a double impact: we are protecting the environment by reducing waste, and strengthening resilience, solidarity, and community connection. It is a great pride to see this circle of giving expand from year to year."
