Marieangela King (39), who married the son of singer Cher (80), Elijah Blue Allman (50), in 2013, has decided to file a formal objection to her mother-in-law's request to be appointed guardian over the son's funds and assets. King is not only blocking the singer, but also demanding: if Elijah needs a guardian at all, it should be her, not his mother.

Let us recall that Elijah, who is dealing with a severe drug addiction and heavy debts, is currently hospitalized in a psychiatric facility in New Hampshire. Cher claims that her son's condition has deteriorated critically, as he owes about $18,000 to drug dealers and faces a massive tax debt of $200,000. All this comes after Elijah was arrested last February following a disturbance at a prestigious boarding school and was charged with assault, burglary, and violation of release conditions.

But the daughter-in-law is not at all ready to let her famous mother-in-law take control of the situation. In documents filed with the court, she accuses Cher of having been estranged from her son for years, and claims that taking away his autonomy against his express wishes will only sabotage his chances of rehabilitation and be perceived by him as an additional punishment.

And it is not just Cher in her sights: King is firing in all directions and also attacking Elijah's brother, Devon Allman, who serves as a supporting witness for Cher's request. King accuses Devon of serious misuse of Elijah's funds, and bluntly claims that Cher and Devon have no real interest in getting him proper treatment.

King and Elijah have a particularly stormy relationship history — she filed for divorce in 2021, the two reconciled and the case was closed in 2024, but in 2025 she filed for divorce again. Ultimately, she dropped the proceedings at Elijah's request, and even waived a $70,000 alimony debt to support him in his rehabilitation.

All this soap opera is blowing up in Cher's face while she is still trying to digest another shocking revelation: not long ago it was revealed to her that she is a grandmother to a secret 15-year-old granddaughter — the product of a short affair Elijah had in 2010 with former model Katie Edwards (granddaughter of Julie Andrews). Elijah kept the secret for a decade and visited the girl in secret, until in 2021, following an overdose he suffered, he admitted her existence to his wife, the same King who is now waging a war of attrition against his mother. Cher only found out about it last year, and when she realized it was true, she said excitedly:

"Oh my God, I'm finally a grandmother."
