In a nostalgic video recently uploaded to her YouTube channel, Jenner showcased a remarkably clean, natural look, seemingly free of dermal fillers and heavy makeup. The video, which amassed over 1.5 million views within 24 hours, marks a significant departure from the heavily sculpted, high-volume facial features that defined her signature look for years. This transition has sparked a broader conversation in the beauty industry: are we witnessing the end of the over-filled face era?

The Shift Away from Extreme Volume

For years, clients entered aesthetic clinics requesting the "Kylie Jenner look"—demanding heavily sculpted cheekbones and highly inflated lips. Today, the trend has reversed. Yafa Maximov, founder of the Yafa Maximov clinic chain, reports a sharp increase in clients seeking to dissolve their fillers.

Maximov explains:

"We are seeing a major shift in our clinics, with about one request per week from women wanting to reverse their fillers. Patients are experiencing visual and physical fatigue from excessive volume. They look in the mirror and want their original faces back. Years of frozen expressions and a homogenized look have stripped away their unique facial features."

Maximov warns that over-filling tissues with hyaluronic acid over long periods can cause structural issues. Because hyaluronic acid attracts water, excessive volume can lead to chronic localized edema, making the skin look heavy, puffy, and dull.

The Reality of Dissolving Fillers

While Jenner's transformation has fueled the natural beauty trend, medical experts urge caution. Dr. Ella Egozi, a dermatologist and medical director at Maccabi Esthetics, emphasizes that aesthetic procedures are not a "one-size-fits-all" solution.

Dr. Egozi points out a crucial medical detail regarding Jenner's quick transition:

"Kylie Jenner is only 29 years old. At this age, her skin still produces healthy levels of collagen and does not have decades of accumulated cosmetic substances. When she dissolved her hyaluronic acid, her skin was elastic enough to contract back to its original dimensions naturally."

For patients over 30, and particularly those going through menopause, the rules change. Decreased collagen production and reduced skin moisture increase the risk of laxity. A sudden dissolution of fillers without proper preparation can leave the skin sagging, similar to the "Ozempic face" phenomenon seen after rapid weight loss.

A Gradual, Regenerative Approach

To avoid sagging skin, older patients require pre-treatment preparation. This involves injecting regenerative substances such as polynucleotides (derived from salmon or trout DNA), exosomes, and growth factors to improve skin quality and elasticity. Only after this priming phase should the gradual dissolution of hyaluronic acid begin, followed by skin-tightening procedures.

Regardless of age, reversing fillers is a multi-step process. First, the enzyme hyaluronidase is injected to break down the hyaluronic acid within 24 to 48 hours. After the tissue recovers, practitioners can proceed with subtle, precise, and non-exaggerated contouring.

Despite the shift toward natural looks, hyaluronic acid remains a vital tool in aesthetic medicine for hydration, subtle lifting, and contouring. However, the industry is increasingly moving toward regenerative aesthetics, focusing on stimulating the body's natural tissue repair rather than simply adding artificial volume.
