Jared Kushner Warns Gaza Militarization Scale Is Beyond Imagination
Jared Kushner warned that the scale of militarization in the Gaza Strip is beyond imagination, making demilitarization difficult. Meanwhile, US Ambassador Mike Huckabee accused UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband of antisemitism.
Jared Kushner, son-in-law and advisor to US President Donald Trump, stated on Sunday evening that the US administration is only beginning to understand the scale of the military buildup in the Gaza Strip, noting that its demilitarization "will not be easy."
Speaking at a press conference in Ukraine during a joint visit with US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, Kushner remarked:
"The scale of the militarization of Gaza is beyond what you can imagine."
He added that the US had worked with Hamas for over four months and that the organization "signed an agreement in which it committed to demilitarize."
Relations with Israel and Elections
Regarding Israel, Kushner clarified that political issues still need to be resolved, but emphasized that the US and Israel agree on the ultimate goal.
"They have crazy elections now, and that makes them a bit irrational in certain aspects. But we are very determined and continue to work on these things."
Diplomatic Clash Over Gaza
In parallel with Kushner's remarks, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee launched a sharp attack on British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband over the latter's comments regarding the population of Gaza.
In a social media post, Miliband had written:
"What is happening there is horrendous. The stories I was told—of medicines being blocked from entering, of children dying while waiting for vital, life-saving treatment—make us realize that we, as the UK government, must act more decisively than we have so far."
In response, Huckabee lashed out:
"The British have lost it. Their government's antisemitism knows no boundaries and recognizes no facts."
