With less than two weeks to go before the elections, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation announced today (Tuesday) that it will broadcast a special election episode of the hit television show "Kupa Rashit" (Checkout). The plot centers around Amnon Titinsky, who unexpectedly finds himself at the center of attention, becoming a surprisingly influential political figure.

Shuni's Political Ambitions

Simultaneously, Shuni launches a vigorous political campaign aimed at securing a spot on a party's list for the Knesset. During the special broadcast, viewers of Kan 11 will witness the iconic cashier identifying an opportunity and attempting to exploit social divisions for personal gain.

"The special election episode of 'Kupa Rashit' will air on Kan 11 and Kan BOX on Tuesday, October 26, 2026, at 21:15," the broadcaster stated.

The timing means the episode will be broadcast moments before the publication of the exit poll results by Kan News pollster Dudi Hassid. The 26th Knesset elections are scheduled for October 27, marking the first time elections will be held on their original statutory date since 1988.

A Cultural Phenomenon

Set in the fictional "Shefa Issaschar" supermarket branch in Yavne, the mockumentary-style sitcom features beloved characters breaking the fourth wall to address the invisible interviewer, "Shinkin." The acclaimed series was nominated for an International Emmy Award in 2019 and twice won the Israeli Television Academy Award for Best Comedy Series.
