MK Yitzhak Kreuzer Faces Police Questioning Over Mitzpe Yeriho Incident
MK Yitzhak Kreuzer from Otzma Yehudit faces police questioning over an alleged altercation with officers, drawing sharp criticism from National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir who alleges political bias ahead of the elections.
MK Yitzhak Kreuzer from Otzma Yehudit is expected to be questioned under caution regarding an alleged altercation with police officers during an incident in Mitzpe Yeriho. The investigation follows a confrontation that occurred after a memorial service for IDF fallen soldiers, where Kreuzer and Otzma Yehudit CEO Itiel Neiman were linked to events surrounding an attempted arrest.
Kreuzer Denies Allegations and Alleges Selective Enforcement
Ahead of the questioning, Kreuzer stated that he would report with his head held high and fully cooperate. He strongly denied attacking any police officers, asserting instead that he was the victim of police brutality and that his fundamental rights were violated when he attempted to file a complaint at the Police Internal Investigations Department (PIID).
"I will report for questioning with my head held high, cooperate, and not rest until the whole truth comes to light," Kreuzer said, pointing out the timing of the probe just weeks before the upcoming Knesset elections.
Political Reactions and Criticism
National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir strongly criticized the decision to summon MK Kreuzer for questioning, alleging selective enforcement and political manipulation of law enforcement agencies ahead of the vote. Ben Gvir demanded explanations from the Attorney General regarding why Kreuzer's own complaint against the police has not yet been processed while the investigation against him was rapidly advanced.
