Heavy Strike Hits Komyshuvakha as Ukraine and Russia Head to Abu Dhabi Talks
A heavy strike on the village of Komyshuvakha in Ukraine left dozens missing following the expiration of a local ceasefire. The attack occurred ahead of planned talks in Abu Dhabi.

A heavy strike hit the village of Komyshuvakha, just a day after a short local ceasefire brokered by the United States expired. The incident comes less than a week before the US is set to host delegations from Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi for talks on ending the war, which is now in its fifth year.
Footage from the scene showed uniformed personnel loading bodies into white plastic bags, while excavators and rescue teams dug through the earth near a massive blast crater in search of people trapped under the rubble. Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia regional defense council, reported that 59 people remain missing.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky detailed the sequence of the attack, stating that Russian forces first dropped aerial bombs on an underground school building used as a distribution point while residents gathered to collect aid, and then struck the shelter with additional bombs. Zelensky noted that classes at the school had long been suspended due to its proximity to the front line, located about 17 kilometers from Russian positions, but the facility served as a shelter and distributed humanitarian aid every Monday.
World Central Kitchen confirmed that the targeted facility operated as a humanitarian and community administrative center, and emergency services stated that the dead include two rescue workers and four police officers. Meanwhile, the Russian military command claimed that the attack targeted Ukrainian military units and that up to 25 servicemen were killed.
