Israel Announces Free Public Transit for October 2026 Knesset Elections
The Central Election Committee announced free intercity buses and Israel Railways travel for the October 27, 2026 elections, starting the evening before.
Ahead of the upcoming 26th Knesset elections scheduled for October 27, 2026, the Central Election Committee announced a special travel framework on Thursday to facilitate public access to polling stations. Intercity bus lines and Israel Railways will be completely free of charge for the general public, with no Rav-Cav card required.
The travel benefit will take effect on the eve of election day, Monday, October 26, starting at 20:00, and will continue uninterrupted until the end of public transportation operating hours on election night.
Under the arrangement, boarding intercity bus lines (on routes exceeding 15 kilometers) will be entirely unrestricted, without the need to present identification or issue a ticket. For Israel Railways passengers, the service will be provided by issuing a dedicated free ticket at service counters or ticket machines at train stations.
The framework includes specific guidelines for Eilat route passengers: these trips require eligibility verification and advance registration through the Egged customer service center.
