Driver Arrested at 170 km/h with Record Alcohol Level on Route 65
Israeli police arrested a 60-year-old driver on Route 65 traveling at 170 km/h with an astronomical alcohol level of 1,720 micrograms and positive drug tests.
A 60-year-old resident of Kfar Saba was arrested by the Traffic Police on Route 65 while driving at 170 km/h under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
During targeted enforcement operations by the National Traffic Police on Friday afternoon, officers stopped a vehicle after a laser speed-measuring device clocked it at 137 km/h, though the driver was ultimately caught speeding at 170 km/h. Officers immediately noticed a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the driver.
A breathalyzer test revealed an exceptionally high blood alcohol concentration reading of 1,720 micrograms of alcohol per liter of breath. The driver was detained and taken to a police station, where a subsequent urine test also returned a positive indication for drug use.
The suspect was transferred to the Galilee District traffic investigation unit for questioning. Following the interrogation, a police officer ordered the administrative suspension of his driver's license and the impoundment of his vehicle for a period of one month as the investigation continues.
