Kenji Gorre Stars in Curacao Comeback Win Over Costa Rica
Maccabi Haifa captain Kenji Gorré starred for Curaçao, scoring twice in a stunning 4:3 comeback win over Costa Rica after coming off the bench.
Kenji Gorré experienced intense pressure at Sammy Ofer Stadium just recently, before turning things around for Maccabi Haifa. On Thursday night, the Curaçao national team captain orchestrated another dramatic comeback.
Costa Rica dominated the first half, taking a comfortable 3:0 lead. However, head coach Dick Advocaat made a triple substitution in the 57th minute, introducing Gorré, Tahith Chong, and Jordi Paulina. This tactical shift completely changed the momentum.
Gorré scored in the 62nd minute to make it 3:1, Chong followed up four minutes later, and Gorré netted his second in the 78th minute to equalize. Paulina then completed the stunning 4:3 victory five minutes later.
Playing only 33 minutes, Gorré scored twice within 21 minutes, playing a crucial role as Curaçao erased a three-goal deficit to secure a historic win.
