Katy Perry's concert film, shot during her Lifetimes tour in Paris, grossed just 21,000 pounds during a limited theatrical release in the UK earlier this month, according to the Mail on Sunday. For comparison, the production cost stands at 4 million pounds. An industry insider told the Mail on Sunday that it was an unusually weak showing, highlighting a significant decline in her star power. Around 150 cinemas and IMAX venues across the UK screened the film, but several auditoriums remained nearly empty. In Leeds, a single screening sold zero tickets, only two fans showed up in Coventry, and an IMAX screening in Milton Keynes drew 17 viewers, with a second screening bringing in ten. In Edinburgh, just 17 tickets were sold across two screenings, while a Vue cinema in London's Leicester Square sold 42 out of 201 seats, generating 881.58 pounds. Around the same time, the crowdsourced nature documentary Super Nature reportedly sold nearly twice as many tickets as Perry's concert film. The comparison to Taylor Swift is stark: Swift's concert film, captured during her 149-show Eras tour, grossed 12 million pounds in the UK and 198 million pounds worldwide upon its 2013 release, becoming the highest-grossing concert film of all time. While the Lifetimes tour itself performed strongly in live venues, selling over a million tickets across 91 shows worldwide, the film failed to replicate that success in the UK.
