Kan 11 apologizes for the "4 Weddings" storm: "The clip was removed, we recognize the offense"

The "4 Weddings" storm refuses to die down, and now the Kan 11 broadcasting corporation is officially responding to the public outrage. After a preview clip from the show was circulated on social media, in which one of the brides was heard declaring that she "cannot stand to hear Russian and Amharic," the corporation published a detailed apology letter.

In the official response letter, the corporation addressed the storm and explained:

"We deeply understand the special significance that language has as part of a person's identity, culture, and heritage. Therefore, we recognize the offense that may have been caused to viewers following the broadcast of the 'preview clip' on Kan's digital platforms, and we regret it."

They further added and emphasized that "accordingly, the clip was removed from the corporation's digital platforms even before the show was broadcast."

Alongside the apology, Kan 11 asks viewers to distinguish between the short clip and the full episode. According to them, in the broadcast itself, the bride's statement did not stand alone, but was accompanied by sharp criticism from the host who asked: "Is there any other sector you would like to insult?"

In addition, the corporation noted that this is a satirical entertainment program, and therefore a clarification slide was displayed at the beginning of the program, emphasizing their commitment to tolerance toward every person, group, and language. "The broadcasting corporation will continue to work for open and free public broadcasting, and at the same time will remain committed to human dignity and the fight against racism," the corporation concluded.
