IDF Exposes Hamas Operations at Kamal Adwan Hospital in Northern Gaza
The IDF revealed that Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza operates as a dual-use facility, serving as a Hamas command base while exploiting patients and staff as human shields.
The Israel Defense Forces revealed that the Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip has become a dual-use facility, functioning simultaneously as a medical center and a Hamas operational command base. According to the military, armed operatives use the hospital and its surrounding area to launch attacks against troops and attempt to rebuild the terrorist organization's capabilities.
Intelligence and Military Operations
Intelligence assessments indicate that the hospital premises are utilized by Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad to advance terrorist plots against Israeli citizens and military forces. The military stated that operatives cynically exploit patients, medical staff, and displaced civilians as human shields in violation of international law. In December 2024, forces operating in the hospital area arrested more than 240 terrorist suspects and recovered substantial quantities of military equipment and weaponry.
The Kamal Adwan Hospital continues to serve as a central hub for terrorist activity, endangering medical personnel and patients alike.
Precedent of Medical Facility Exploitation
This incident follows similar disclosures regarding other medical infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. During previous operations, the military exposed Hamas's command headquarters beneath the Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, where hostages were also brought. Furthermore, underground command tunnels were uncovered beneath the European Hospital in Khan Yunis, located mere meters from the emergency room and ambulance parking areas, which served senior commanders during the October 7 attacks.
