Moments before the peak: Heavy to extreme heat loads — full forecast
The weather will be hotter than usual and throughout the country an increase in heat stress will be felt ahead of the peak that will occur tomorrow. On Monday there will be a drop in temperatures, while on Tuesday the heatwave will begin to break.
The heavy heatwave is expected to reach its peak tomorrow, Sunday, but already today the weather is hotter than usual and even scorching, mainly in the interior of the country and in the mountains. Along the coastal plain it is humid, and in all regions of the country an additional increase in heat stress is being felt. The Meteorological Service warns of heavy to extreme heat stress throughout the country.
Tomorrow, Sunday, there will be a further rise in temperatures when we will experience the peak of the heat stress. From the afternoon hours, the winds will strengthen. On Monday, a slight drop in temperatures will be felt for the first time, but the weather will continue to be hotter than usual for the season and heat stress will still prevail. On Tuesday morning it will become clear and further cooling will occur, ahead of the end of the heatwave.
Dr. Amir Givati, head of the Meteorological Service, said on Thursday in an interview with the ynet studio, ahead of the heatwave:
«One must avoid carrying out activities during the hours of heavy heat. In August last year there was a similar heatwave, and there were quite a few cases of heatstroke. This is an event of truly extreme heat. Those who are in Gush Dan will not quite understand what we are talking about, but in the northern region it will be very hot and dry during the afternoon hours.»
