NBA player: Ex-girlfriend threatened to kill me and ruined clothes with bleach
Tari Eason has filed a request for a restraining order against Marilyn Melo Rodriguez, whom he accuses of physical assault and destroying property worth $92,000. He is also seeking protection in arenas where the Rockets will play in California.
Houston Rockets player Tari Eason has filed a request for a restraining order against his ex-girlfriend, Marilyn Maritza Melo Rodriguez, following a series of serious allegations including physical assault, threats, and destruction of property worth tens of thousands of dollars.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Eason claimed that Rodriguez's mother once asked him to drive her home. According to him, after they arrived at the location, an argument developed between the two, during which she repeatedly punched him in the face.
The 25-year-old player claimed that after he left the scene, Rodriguez arrived at the Airbnb apartment where he was staying, took his clothes, and poured bleach on them. Eason estimated the damage to his designer clothing and personal property at approximately $92,000.
In the request he filed, Eason also described a phone call he said he received from one of Rodriguez's acquaintances. He claims that during the call, he was told:
"She will break both my legs and kill me."
He noted that the threats caused him to fear for his safety.
Eason is asking the court to order Rodriguez to stay away from him, his home, his workplace, his car, and any arena in California where the Houston Rockets might play during the season.
The forward was selected 17th in the 2022 draft and is entering his fifth season in the NBA. Throughout his career in Houston, he has averaged 10.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, and earlier this month, he reportedly signed a five-year contract extension worth $81.5 million.
The allegations appearing in the request for a restraining order have not yet been proven in court, and at this stage, no response has been published on behalf of Rodriguez.
