Rafa Jodar Sparks Controversy at Shanghai Masters After Berating Ball Boy
Spanish tennis rising star Rafa Jodar sparked controversy at the Shanghai Masters by swearing at a ball boy during his match against Botic van de Zandschulp, though he still advanced to the quarterfinals.

Rafa Jodar, one of Spain's most promising young tennis players, found himself at the center of controversy once again during his Shanghai Masters round of 16 match against Dutch player Botic van de Zandschulp. The 20-year-old Spaniard lost his temper, lashed out at a ball boy, and swore at him.
The Incident on Court
The incident occurred at the start of the second set after Jodar, ranked 13th, narrowly lost the first in a tiebreak. Following a missed break point, Jodar turned his frustration toward a ball boy and shouted in Spanish, "Give me the fucking towel already!"
"Oh my god... this is unbelievable. You clearly aren't used to being on the court," Jodar protested to the chair umpire, Jimmy Pinoargute, who issued an unsportsmanlike conduct warning.
Advancing Despite the Controversy
Despite the heated exchange and impending fine, Jodar quickly recovered to break serve and ultimately advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament for the fourth time in his Masters 1000 career. However, the unsportsmanlike behavior overshadowed his athletic achievement.
