Four medical students from Qalansawe, Tayibe, and Baqa al-Gharbiya say they were victims of a racist attack at the Jerusalem central station on Sunday. According to the students, a young man poured drinks on their clothes, while others called them "terrorists" simply because of their appearance and the hijabs they wear.

Incident Details and Reactions

The students, who travel home through the Jerusalem station on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, recounted the harrowing experience. One of the students, a third-year medical student, described how a teenager first poured a vanilla-flavored iced drink on them, and returned two minutes later with another cup of iced coffee to throw on them and other girls.

"We were in shock and didn't understand what happened. We called security, but they rolled their eyes and didn't help us," one of the students said.

The victims stated that security guards at the station dismissed their complaints, prompting a severe sense of fear and helplessness. They noted that online comments on a video of the incident posted by the attacker praised his actions and hurled further abuse at the students.

Legal Action and Public Safety

The students emphasized that they plan to consult with an attorney and file a formal police complaint. They stressed that ignoring such racist incidents encourages repeat offenses, especially against Arab women wearing hijabs in public spaces.
