The Jerusalem District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against two residents of the city, 26-year-old Mahmoud Diba and 23-year-old Amir Zelbani, following a severe campaign of threats, assault, and arson directed at a woman who had broken off her engagement to Diba just one day after it was announced.

According to the indictment, the couple got engaged on August 8, but called off the engagement the following day. Despite the breakup, communication continued, during which Diba sent a series of threatening messages. On August 28, he wrote to the victim, "I'm going to kill you." Subsequent messages included threats to burn her alive and warnings that she would pay with her life.

The harassment escalated into physical violence when the two met in Diba's car and an argument broke out, during which he slapped her in the face. Unsanctioned by the breakup and seeking further retaliation, Diba enlisted Zelbani to torch a vehicle used by the woman. On September 16 at 4:00 AM, Diba filled two plastic bottles with fuel at a "Dor Alon" gas station in Shuafat and handed them to Zelbani, who then proceeded to the victim's home and set her car on fire. Both face serious charges including aggravated arson, threats, and assault.
