Javonte Hawkins Signs with Hapoel Eilat for the Upcoming Season
The American guard (33, 1.96 meters), who won the BCL with Bonn against Hapoel Jerusalem, joins Oren Aharoni's team. Last season, he won the Serbian championship.
Hapoel Eilat announced on Friday the signing of guard Javonte Hawkins, who played last season for the Serbian team Spartak Subotica in the Adriatic League. His record includes a BCL title with Telekom Bonn in the famous final against Hapoel Jerusalem, as well as a Serbian championship from last season.
"He is an experienced player who has played for winning teams in Europe. A tough guard who impacts the game in many ways and can play both guard positions. He will fit in well with our backcourt players," said coach Oren Aharoni regarding the new reinforcement.
Hawkins (33, 1.96 m) moved between South Florida, Eastern Kentucky, and Fordham before finishing college in 2017. He began his professional career in Finland, and from there continued to Greece. He first arrived in Germany in 2020 with Crailsheim, and subsequently moved to Bonn. In the summer of 2022, he joined the French team Limoges, but during the season he returned to Bonn and helped them win the BCL with 13 points in the victory over Jerusalem in the final.
Following that success, he played for the Russian team Samara and the Chinese team Shanghai Sharks. He started last season at Merkezefendi in the Turkish league, and during the season moved to Spartak Subotica, recording 10.3 points per game. In the Serbian playoffs, he helped Spartak win the championship with 8.3 points per game.
Hawkins joins Kendall McCullum and Aaron Wheeler, who have already signed with Eilat's foreign roster, as well as Israelis Yuval Shnaiderman, Eliad Tal, Daniel Rosenbaum, Ben Royna, and Zuf Ben Moshe.
