Man Shot Dead in Jaffa as Police Arrest Another Suspect in Caesarea Murder
A man was shot dead in Jaffa on Tuesday evening, prompting a police manhunt. Meanwhile, investigators arrested another suspect in last month's murder of Caucasus mafia figure Janis Yoshubaev near Caesarea.
A man was shot dead on Tuesday evening on Rabbi Rubinstein Street in Jaffa. Police launched a manhunt for suspects and opened an investigation. According to law enforcement, the victim was initially rushed to Wolfson Medical Center in Holon, where doctors pronounced him dead.
In a separate development, officers from the Coastal District Yamar arrested another suspect involved in the murder of Janis Yoshubaev, reportedly a leader of the Caucasian mafia, who was gunned down last month at a gas station near Caesarea. Police will ask the court to extend the suspect's detention as the investigation continues. Authorities previously arrested a primary suspect seen on security cameras shooting Yoshubaev, alongside a second suspect detained two weeks ago.
Yoshubaev, a 45-year-old resident of Or Akiva, was killed on August 23 near a restaurant at a gas station. Magen David Adom paramedics provided emergency treatment and evacuated him to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera while performing resuscitation efforts, but he was pronounced dead shortly after.
The primary suspect has denied any involvement in the murder. His defense attorney, Yaron Shumron, stated that his client maintains his innocence, noting that the court significantly shortened the remand period requested by police and expressing confidence that the suspect will soon be released.
