Activist Group Advises Returning Israeli Voters to Prepare for Detentions
An activist group advising returning Israeli voters has urged travelers to keep emergency legal numbers, citing unfounded fears of police detentions at airports.

An activist group has issued an unusual advisory urging Israeli citizens returning from abroad to vote to prepare for potential police detention upon arrival. The group, known as the "Detainee Envelope Array", distributed messages across messaging applications instructing incoming travelers to note emergency hotline numbers.
Travelers were advised to print the emergency contacts and physically store them inside their passports in case law enforcement confiscates their mobile devices. The advisory warns individuals who might face questioning or detention at Ben Gurion Airport, at polling stations, or following the elections to contact the legal support network immediately.
When asked about the rationale behind these precautionary measures, a representative for the organization cited potential arbitrary actions by authorities, mentioning concerns over online posts or traveler intentions. However, the organization acknowledged that no such incidents have occurred so far, emphasizing that the warnings are strictly a proactive measure for any hypothetical scenario.
Meanwhile, security officials and the Israel Police maintain that standard operating procedures apply at all border crossings and polling centers, ensuring that democratic rights are fully protected without political interference.
