Israeli Tourists Abroad Favor Delivery Apps and International Retail Chains
New data from PassportCard reveals that Israeli tourists abroad frequently use delivery apps like Wolt and Uber Eats, while Zara and Uniqlo dominate fashion purchases across popular holiday destinations.
Israeli tourists traveling abroad during holiday seasons are increasingly relying on delivery apps and international retail chains, according to new data from PassportCard. The findings, based on transactions made via the PassportCard Pay service, highlight shifting spending habits among vacationers.
Food delivery services have become a major expense, with Wolt ranking as the top transaction category in Greece and securing the third spot in both Cyprus and Georgia. Meanwhile, Uber Eats leads the food delivery market for Israeli travelers in the United States and Japan, reflecting a preference for ordering meals directly to hotels and accommodations.
Fashion purchases also show clear international trends. Zara leads clothing purchases in six of the ten most popular holiday destinations, including Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Georgia, Hungary, and Austria. In contrast, Uniqlo dominates apparel transactions in Italy, the United States, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand.
Transportation habits vary significantly by destination, with subway rides and Uber dominating in the United States, Grab and Bolt leading in Thailand, and metropolitan transit systems in Barcelona and Madrid driving transport expenses in Spain. Itzik Aboksis, CEO of PassportCard Pay, noted that travelers increasingly favor convenience by using apps for food and transit rather than relying solely on traditional dining.
