Israel Wheelchair Tennis Quad Team Wins Bronze at World Championship

Israel's wheelchair tennis quad national team won the bronze medal at the World Championship held in the USA, defeating Chile 1:2 in a dramatic playoff. The team included London 2012 Paralympic gold medalist Noam Gershony, who returned to competition to help the squad, Paris 2024 medalist and world number three Guy Sasson, and Roi Abergil.

In the opening match, Gershony faced Diego Perez and lost 6:4, 7:5. Sasson then stepped up against Francisco Cayulef. The match was interrupted several times due to weather conditions, but Sasson ultimately triumphed 1:6, 2:6 to tie the series at 1:1. The decisive moment came in the doubles match, where Sasson and Gershony defeated Perez and Cayulef 1:6, 3:6, completing a 1:2 comeback to secure the bronze medal for Israel.

Meanwhile, the men's team in the open category—featuring Adam Berdichevsky from Nir Yitzhak in the Gaza envelope, young Sergei Lisov, and Amitai Argaman, a Maglan combat soldier severely wounded in the early days of the Iron Swords War—finished in ninth place after a 2:0 loss to the USA and a 2:0 victory over Chile.
