Israel Weighs Military Options in Iran and Yemen Ahead of October Elections
Israel faces potential military escalations against Iran or the Houthis ahead of the October 27 elections, as security concerns and political calculations intersect.

A renewed military confrontation between Israel and Iran or the Houthis before the October 27 elections in Israel remains possible, according to Al-Monitor citing an Israeli security official.
Security Developments and Political Impacts
According to the official, a significant security development ahead of the elections could influence the political landscape. However, developments over the past 48 hours indicate that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may now be placing greater weight on potential military action in Yemen, following days where a strike on Iran was the primary focus of discussions.
A senior Israeli political official told Al-Monitor anonymously that despite improvements in Netanyahu's standing in the polls, the prime minister remains concerned about losing power. The official noted that the possibility of security escalation leading to a postponed election does not deter him and might even serve his political interests.
The Yemeni Front and Saudi Arabia
As the election date approaches, the window of opportunity for a military decision is narrowing. Channel 12 reported on October 8, citing US officials, that the Pentagon ordered the US Central Command to prepare for a potential renewed large-scale campaign against Iran. However, US President Donald Trump stated on Truth Social that Washington would not attack Iran before the US midterm elections in November, pointing to productive talks with Tehran.
In recent days, Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia have escalated, including a missile striking the Riyadh International Airport. An Israeli political official stated that Netanyahu believes assisting Saudi Arabia against the Houthi threat could soften Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's stance and revive normalization prospects with Israel. Nevertheless, reports indicate Saudi Arabia has for now rejected direct Israeli military integration due to public sensitivity.
Iran's Missile Reconstruction
Despite the rising focus on Yemen, action against Iran remains on the table. IDF Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, held discussions in Washington regarding potential strikes, warning of possible political impacts on Israeli elections. Western intelligence indicates Iran has managed to rebuild and disperse its missile and drone manufacturing facilities underground, reaching capabilities close to pre-war levels.
