Israel Equals Against Ireland in Nations League
Following a humiliating 3-0 defeat in Debrecen, the Israeli national team managed to restore some pride on Sunday by securing a 1-1 draw in their second encounter against Ireland, played this time in Serbia. Troy Parrott opened the scoring for the hosts from the penalty spot in the 39th minute, before Dor Peretz equalized in the 47th minute to secure Israel's second point in a disappointing campaign.
After scoring, captain Dor Peretz kissed the black armband worn by the players in memory of the victims of the October 7 massacre in an emotionally charged moment. Israel grew more dangerous as the match progressed and nearly completed a comeback, but Omri Gandelman and Oscar Gloukh both hit the woodwork.
"I am proud of every single one of these men, everyone gave their heart, and there were very nice attacking moments too. We deserved to win, and we need to bring this mentality and aggressiveness to the next games," said Oscar Gloukh after the match.
