The Israeli national team concluded a difficult international break on Sunday with a 1:1 draw against Ireland, finishing the four-match stretch without a single victory. While individual players like Anan Khalaili and Roy Revivo showed significant progress, and Manor Solomon returned to form, the squad managed only two goals while conceding seven.

Match Breakdown and First Half Setback

Under manager Ran Ben Shimon, the blue-and-whites knew they needed to restore pride following last week's heavy defeat to Ireland. A win was crucial to keep any hopes alive in the UEFA Nations League.

The first half started calmly as Israel avoided reckless mistakes. However, right before halftime, poor defensive positioning on a free kick led to a penalty after Dor Peretz attempted a sliding tackle in the box. Irish striker Troy Parrott successfully converted from the spot to give the visitors the lead.

Second Half Equalizer and Final Result

"We showed character in the second half, but we must convert our chances and improve our defensive discipline moving forward," noted tactical assessments from the pitch.

The second half brought a completely different momentum. Just two minutes after the restart, Oscar Gloukh unleashed a shot that serendipitously reached team captain Dor Peretz, who atoned for his earlier penalty foul by slotting home the equalizer.

The remainder of the match remained balanced, with substitute Omri Gandelman and Yarden Shua both coming close to finding a winner. Despite the push, Israel failed to grab a second goal, settling for their second point out of 12 possible.
