The Israeli national football team has canceled planned entertainment performances by comedian Guy Hochman and singer Nadav Hantzis in Hungary, following a heavy defeat against Ireland. However, the team welcomed families of players who arrived in Hungary on Monday afternoon to visit the squad at their hotel, aiming to provide a morale boost and help players recharge before Thursday night's crucial match against Kosovo.
Morning Training and Tactical Adjustments
On Monday morning, the squad split into two groups. The starting players from the previous match remained at the hotel for a recovery session, while the rest of the team traveled to nearby training grounds for a session led by head coach Ran Ben Shimon. During the practice, Ben Shimon held on-pitch discussions with two of his captains, Eli Dasa and Dor Peretz, both of whom came off the bench against Ireland and are strong candidates to start against Kosovo, with Peretz guaranteed a spot in the starting lineup.
Striker Tai Baribo completed his first full training session since arriving in Hungary with a minor injury, significantly boosting his chances of featuring. Omri Gandelman also trained fully and is expected to see minutes as a substitute on Thursday.
Leadership Support and Reflection
Time management and psychological recovery remain central themes for the team as they prepare for Thursday's fixture. Head coach Ran Ben Shimon is expected to address the squad collectively regarding the lackluster performance against Ireland, where team members admitted they failed to show up from the very first minute.
"Even the strongest players in the national team are broken," a player shared on Monday afternoon. "We took a massive punch against Ireland. It will take people a long time to recover from this, and you can see it on everyone's faces. That is also the reason the evening shows were canceled. Nobody has the headspace for entertainment right now."
Israel Football Association Chairman Shino Zuaretz attended Monday morning's training session and will remain with the team throughout the week to provide full backing to both the players and the coaching staff as they refocus on upcoming matches against Kosovo and an away fixture against Ireland in Serbia on Sunday.
