An unusual incident occurred ahead of the second match between the national teams of Ireland and Israel on Sunday at 21:45 in Serbia. The Irish delegation abruptly cancelled the press conference after questions from Israeli media, when the microphone of Sport 5 journalist Motti Pshechzky was forcibly taken away by an association representative.

The press conference escalated when an Irish FA spokesman silenced an Israeli question regarding a recent terror plot attempt targeting a Flydubai flight. When Pshechzky asked Ireland coach Heimir Hallgrimsson about claims that his players had called Israeli players "monkeys", he was silenced, the press conference was abruptly ended, and his microphone was confiscated.

Tensions surrounding the match continue to grow as Ireland's various protests and provocations persist in the UEFA Nations League. Notably, no players accompanied the coach to the press conference as required by UEFA regulations, leaving Hallgrimsson to face the media alone. From a tactical standpoint, two players who started in Ireland's 3-0 victory over Israel last Sunday will be missing from the squad: James Abankwah is suspended, and Dara O'Shea did not travel due to the impending birth of his child.
