Iran Threatens New Weapons and Expanded Targets if US Attacks
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened Monday to introduce new weapons and alter the geography of the conflict if the United States launches fresh attacks against the country.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) threatened on Monday that if the United States attacks the country again, Tehran will introduce new weapons into the conflict and target locations that have not been hit thus far. IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebi stated that in the event of a renewed strike, Iran would also alter the geography of the war.
New Weapons and Expanded Targets
"If new aggression occurs, we will certainly change the weapons and the geography of the war," Mohebi said, according to the Iranian Fars News Agency, adding that Iran is prepared for a protracted conflict. Mohebi claimed that Iran possesses weaponry and capabilities that have not yet been deployed.
"We will introduce new weapons with new capabilities to the battlefield, and the world will be surprised," Mohebi said.
US Warnings and Regional Tensions
The threat follows claims made over the weekend by the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the joint operational command of the Iranian armed forces, that it received intelligence indicating the US plans to renew operations against Iran. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has escalated his threats against Tehran, stating in a Fox News interview that he is weighing options including a strike, continued economic pressure, or reaching an agreement.
