The Israeli electric scooter brand INOKIM has received official authorization from the Standards Institution of Israel (SII) to mark its models with the national standard mark. According to the company, this milestone makes it the first electric scooter manufacturer in the world to achieve such certification.

INOKIM stated that the process spanned approximately two years. It involved rigorous testing of the product alongside comprehensive audits of the manufacturing plant, ensuring strict quality control over production processes from the battery cells to the final assembly.

Dr. Gilad Golub, CEO of the Standards Institution of Israel, confirmed that INOKIM successfully passed all required evaluations, noting that the institution welcomes manufacturers who choose to operate under full regulatory and standards supervision.

Rising Safety Concerns

Owned by brothers Kfir and Dror Ben Shushan, INOKIM reports a global user base of over half a million riders, including approximately 100,000 customers in Israel.

This regulatory milestone comes amid a sharp rise in casualties involving electric scooters. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, 1,465 people were injured in electric scooter accidents in Israel in 2024. Data from the National Road Safety Authority reveals that the number of fatalities and serious injuries among electric scooter riders surged from just 4 in 2015 to 356 in 2024.
