A 37-year-old prisoner serving a sentence for manslaughter was shot and killed on Friday morning while leaving the Hermon Prison on his way to a rehabilitation workplace. According to police, the targeted assassination took place near the Tsalmon interchange.

The victim, identified as Eyal Haib, was walking toward a bus stop near Route 65 at approximately 6:41 AM when assassins who had been lying in wait opened fire at close range and carried out a summary execution. Investigators believe the killing was meticulously planned over a long period, with the perpetrators tracking his schedule to strike when he was alone.

First responders from Magen David Adom arrived at the scene and attempted resuscitation, but ultimately pronounced him dead at the location. Senior MDA medic Fadi Othman stated that the victim was found unconscious on the sidewalk with severe penetrating injuries.

Large police forces from the Northern District deployed to the scene and launched a comprehensive investigation, collecting forensic evidence and examining whether the murder stemmed from a criminal underworld vendetta.
