FIFA Chief Gianni Infantino Faces Scrutiny Over Housekeeper Visa Request
FIFA President Gianni Infantino faces scrutiny after reports revealed he sought US political help for his housekeeper's visa while questions arose over her employment funding.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino is facing a fresh controversy following a British media investigation revealing he sought US political assistance for his domestic worker. According to the report published by The Daily Telegraph, Infantino asked a senior adviser with ties to the White House and President Donald Trump to help secure a work visa for a Nicaraguan housekeeper employed at his luxury residence in Miami.
The investigation details that Infantino approached Carlos Cordeiro, former president of the US Soccer Federation and a senior adviser to FIFA, to facilitate the renewal of the work permit. Cordeiro reportedly engaged an outside law firm to advance the matter amid shifting immigration policies under the administration of Donald Trump.
Internal documents reviewed by the press raise questions regarding the housekeeper's employment status and salary funding. While FIFA maintains that Infantino personally covers all household expenses, records indicate the worker was formally listed on the payroll of FIFA America between August 2024 and October 2025 with an annual salary of approximately $40,000.
FIFA strongly rejected any allegations of wrongdoing, stating that all employment practices comply with US immigration laws and that the president finances his private staff independently. Authorities have received inquiries regarding the case, though no formal investigations or official rulings have been announced against the FIFA leadership.
