Infant Chokes on Sukkah Decoration in Netivot and is Rescued by MDA
An eight-month-old infant in Netivot choked on a sukkah decoration on Saturday evening. An MDA medic successfully extracted the object, stabilizing the baby without hospital evacuation.
An eight-month-old infant choked on a piece of a sukkah decoration in Netivot on Saturday evening. A Magen David Adom (MDA) medic who arrived at the scene noticed the baby's face had turned blue, successfully performed procedures to extract the foreign object from his throat, and saved him.
According to MDA, the infant's condition stabilized, and he did not require evacuation to a hospital. The report of the incident was received at 22:36 at MDA's 101 dispatch center in the Negev region. Medics and paramedics rushed to the home and provided immediate medical treatment, discovering that a piece of a sukkah decoration had blocked his airways.
Senior MDA motorcycle unit medic Uriel Cohen recalled: "I arrived at the scene quickly and saw the baby with a blue face. I immediately recognized choking and began life-saving procedures until the piece came out. After a few seconds, his color returned to normal and his condition stabilized."
