A 91-year-old woman died in India after a monkey lunged at her in her courtyard, causing her to lose her balance and fall. She succumbed to her injuries a day later. The incident took place in the city of Koppal, Karnataka, and was captured by a security camera installed outside the home.
According to a report by the Indian newspaper The Indian Express, the victim, Najmunnisa Begum, was walking on her property when the monkey rushed toward her. Begum lost her balance and fell backward.
The video records the monkey sitting on a concrete pillar near a black metal gate. Suddenly, it lunges toward her and strikes her, causing her to fall to the ground. Her daughter comes out of the house to assist her, and the monkey then turns toward her and attacks her as well.
Following the incident, Begum was taken to a private hospital for treatment. Her condition initially appeared to improve, but later deteriorated, and she died the next day while receiving medical care.
