A hazardous materials incident occurred in Modi'in Illit, where a post office branch was evacuated after a package containing two liquid substances began to leak. Firefighters and monitoring teams are currently operating at the scene. The Fire and Rescue Authority stated that it is possible the substances are materials used for gel polish.
The incident began after branch employees noticed a suspicious package containing two different substances, one of which was leaking, and called the fire department. Firefighters from the Binyamin regional station evacuated citizens from the branch, secured the area, and are working to handle the package safely.
The hazardous materials unit and monitoring teams were also summoned to the scene to identify the substances, stop the leak, and prevent a possible reaction between them.
Deputy Chief Shlomi Harush, commander of the Binyamin regional station, stated:
"Following a leak from one of the substances, we were called to the scene. As of this hour, we are isolating the area so as not to endanger citizens nearby. Our forces are working to reach the material safely, treat it, and prevent the continuation of the leak and a possible reaction between the two substances."
