Fire in Beit Hanina: Casualties reported as rescue operations continue
Four people were injured in a fire that broke out in a residential building in the Beit Hanina neighborhood of Jerusalem, including one child in serious condition and two others in moderate condition. Fire and police forces are currently on-site conducting rescue operations.
A fire broke out today, Sunday, in a residential building in the Beit Hanina neighborhood of Jerusalem, resulting in injuries to four individuals, including three children. Firefighting crews are currently operating at the scene to rescue trapped residents and extinguish the flames.
In a statement, the Fire and Rescue Authority reported:
"Firefighters from the Egoz station are operating at a fire in a residential building in Beit Hanina. So far, three children have been rescued from the structure. According to medical sources, two of the children were evacuated to the hospital in moderate condition. Firefighters are continuing searches for additional trapped individuals while simultaneously working to extinguish the fire and clear smoke. The incident is ongoing."
The Israel Police spokesperson added:
"Firefighters are working to rescue individuals trapped inside the building, while dozens of residents are being evacuated from the site. According to the Fire and Rescue Services, four people have been rescued so far. Three of them were transported to the hospital: one in serious condition and two in moderate condition."
Jerusalem District police officers are securing the scene, regulating traffic, and clearing routes to ensure the rapid and safe passage of emergency and medical vehicles. The police urge the public to avoid the area, follow the instructions of emergency personnel, and allow rescue teams to carry out their duties without interference.
