Historic Collective Agreement Signed for Immigration Enforcement Workers
The Ministry of Finance, Histadrut, and Population and Immigration Authority signed a historic six-year collective agreement for 300 enforcement administration workers.
The Ministry of Finance, the Histadrut, and the Population and Immigration Authority signed a historic collective bargaining agreement for employees of the Enforcement and Foreigners Administration. The agreement, the first of its kind for the administration's staff, was reached after years of negotiations.
The six-year agreement covers approximately 300 employees, shifting them from personal contracts to a collective framework. It addresses wages, professional advancement, welfare, and overall employment conditions, incorporating both general public sector pay raises and specialized compensation components.
Specialized Compensation and Professional Growth
The newly signed accord establishes improved salary scales alongside unique incentives tailored to the demanding nature of enforcement operations. Employees will receive additional compensation for on-call availability, field enforcement missions, and handling complex asylum and status-regulation procedures.
"The collective agreement for the Enforcement and Foreigners Administration is an important step that balances the need to strengthen the state's national enforcement capabilities with providing fair compensation for employees performing complex core tasks," said Noy Sofer Lior, Senior Deputy to the Director of Wages at the Ministry of Finance.
The agreement also introduces attendance bonuses, signing bonuses, and the establishment of a professional knowledge fund to expand career development opportunities within the state service.
Strengthening National Enforcement
Enforcement and Foreigners Administration personnel are civil servants responsible for enforcing immigration and labor laws, including combating illegal employment, illicit staffing agencies, and the exploitation of foreign workers. Officials hope the enhanced terms will improve recruitment and retention.
Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David hailed the accord as historic, noting that it successfully resolves long-standing grievances for a crucial group of public sector workers. Population and Immigration Authority Director General Boaz Yosef added that the agreement ensures the administration can continue carrying out its central duties efficiently and professionally.
