Ilanit Levi: "Every relationship of mine ended in the heart long before the official end; you can no longer bear to hear him breathe"
Following the surprising breakup of Vicky Halmi and Omer Bar on "Married at First Sight," Ilanit Levi reflected on her own past breakups and empathized with the bride: "By the time it ended officially, I had already moved on."
The breakup of Vicky Halmi and Omer Bar on Married at First Sight (new episode on Sunday after the news, Keshet 12) certainly surprised viewers, but it seems it did not come as a bolt from the blue for the couple themselves. Even before they reached their joint decision, Halmi had shown a lack of interest in continuing the relationship and understood that the process was heading toward an end.
Presenter Ilanit Levi identified with the bride, sharing on the show Galit and Ilanit that she, too, had experienced similar breakups in her own life.
When Halmi and Bar arrived at the clinic, it felt as though the relationship had ended before they even walked through the door. Levi shared that she knows this situation all too well:
"Every relationship that ended in my life first ended in my head, in my heart, and in my soul. By the time it ended officially, I had already been through it and was past it. It’s that sense of impatience where you can no longer bear to hear him breathe."
In addition to the breakup, she addressed the case of another couple—Sofi Daniel Benjamine and Dor Ez Cohen, the father of her son. When Sofi told him she loved him, he choked up and was unable to say it back. Levi shared that she believes she would have reacted differently in that situation.
"I think that out of awkwardness, even with my tendency for excessive honesty and directness, I would have said something," she remarked. Her co-host, Galit Gutman, added her own opinion on the matter, emphasizing that there is a decisive importance to who says "I love you" first: "Let the men have something that they can do."
