Ilanit Levi Recalls Her First Birth Shock and C-Section Fear on Baby Boom
TV star Ilanit Levi and Prof. Yariv Yogev reflect on unexpected delivery room twists, the need for expectant mothers to let go of strict plans, and how the show Baby Boom transformed hospital staff sensitivity.

Today, almost every woman arriving at the maternity ward has a clear vision of how her delivery should unfold. However, reality in the delivery room can take an unexpected turn, as Israeli television personality Ilanit Levi recently shared regarding her first birth.
In a conversation with Prof. Yariv Yogev, who accompanies the births featured on the show "Baby Boom" (broadcast on Keshet 12), Levi recalled the pivotal moment she realized things weren't going according to plan. "I was a 21-year-old girl, completely sure a C-section wouldn't happen to me. When they told me I needed one, I ran to the restroom and locked myself inside, saying 'I'm not letting him out,'" Levi shared.
Prof. Yogev noted that he knows the case well, adding: "Today women want to control everything. I always tell them: 'Come with a plan in mind, but you must know how to let go.'"
Prof. Yogev also reflected on how filming the show changed the approach of the medical staff: "This is a show about love; you see the pure love of the staff for their patients. When you enter the room and say hello, the interaction changes. The show allowed us to see on camera what happens when we aren't there, teaching us a lot about ourselves and making us much more sensitive."
