"Always invested in others": Taha Abu Quider killed in car accident
MADA teams arriving at the scene pronounced the death of the 29-year-old volunteer. Two other injured individuals were evacuated to Soroka Hospital. Abu Quider, who had recently completed his medical studies, was preparing to begin his internship in Israel.
Taha Abu Quider, 29, from Be'er Sheva, a MADA volunteer who recently finished medical school abroad and was preparing for the government exam ahead of his internship in Israel, was killed on Tuesday in a fatal car accident on Highway 80 near the Tel Arad junction.
The accident occurred around 23:30, when emergency services received a report of a collision between a private vehicle and a truck. MADA teams arriving at the scene found the vehicle crushed with a man trapped inside.
"There was a lot of commotion at the scene and a vehicle with significant body damage. We saw a man in his 50s trapped, unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, with very severe injuries to his body. During the rescue operations, we performed medical checks, but unfortunately, we had no choice but to pronounce his death," said MADA paramedic Muhammad Abu Matir, senior medic Saar Shahori, and MADA medic Anwar Abu Farid.
Simultaneously, the teams provided medical treatment to two other injured people: a 35-year-old man who sustained serious injuries and a 45-year-old man who sustained moderate injuries. Both were evacuated to Soroka Hospital.
It was later confirmed that the deceased was Abu Quider, a MADA volunteer since 2024. He served on ambulances and as a first responder in his area of residence.
Negev district traffic investigators have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the crash. His colleagues paid tribute to his memory:
"Taha was a very serious and professional volunteer, with deep medical knowledge that helped save many lives. He was always the first to volunteer for any task," said Walid Gargawi, head of MADA volunteers in the Segev Shalom, Ar'ara, and Bedouin diaspora sector.
Negev district director at MADA, Shimon Alkobi, expressed sorrow, calling it a painful loss for the entire organization. Abu Quider was laid to rest at the cemetery in the Abu Quider diaspora, accompanied by his family and many friends.
