Rodan was a prominent figure within the Israeli maritime community. For many years, he worked at the iconic "Metzilot" store, which served as a central hub for the community's earliest gatherings.

Alon Segal, his friend, eulogized him: "This is sad news, especially for the spearfishing community in Israel. Philip was a true pioneer; he knew the sea and the fish like the back of his hand.
As children, we admired him; he was the figure we all aspired to be. Thank you for the values you instilled, for teaching us to love the sea, and for your years of contribution to the field. Rest in peace, my friend."
Ofer Shahar, another friend, shared: "What a man, and what a wealth of knowledge! I was privileged to spend many hours in his presence—in the store, above the water, and below it. Thank you for everything you were to me. May his memory be blessed."
