Dragged his wife by her hair, kicked her and choked her: suspicion of severe violence in the north
A 35-year-old resident of the north is accused of two severe incidents of violence against his wife, whom he married only eight months ago. According to the indictment, he slapped her, kicked her, dragged her by her hair throughout the house and even choked her. In the last incident, the woman managed to lock herself in the bathroom and call the police.
An indictment was filed today, Monday, at the Nazareth Magistrate's Court against a 35-year-old resident of the north, regarding two separate incidents in which, according to the charge, he attacked his wife with severe violence. The couple married only about eight months ago, and the indictment describes a series of acts of violence that took place in their shared home in the north of the country.
According to the indictment, the couple married at the beginning of the year, and already in April, about four months after the wedding, the first incident of violence occurred. During an argument that developed between the two, the defendant pushed his wife and slapped her on the head.
The woman tried to defend herself with her hands, but according to the charge, the defendant continued to attack her, kicked her in the chest area and slapped her on the head once more. Following the attack, she required a medical examination, in which it was discovered that one of her ribs was injured and there was a suspicion of a fracture.
Another incident of violence occurred at the beginning of the month. According to the indictment, during one of the nights, an argument developed between the couple against the background of the woman's suspicion that her husband was corresponding on his mobile phone with another woman. During the argument, the defendant cursed her, spat in her face and slapped her while she was in the bedroom.
When she tried to leave the bedroom and asked him to sleep in the living room, it is alleged that he approached her while she was lying on the bed, pushed her, grabbed her hair and dragged her along the house towards the living room. There, according to the charge, he kicked her several times, including in the head area.
The woman managed to escape to the first floor of the house and hid behind a table, however, according to the indictment, the defendant followed her and threw chairs at her. Afterwards, he climbed onto the table, grabbed her hair and slapped her on the head and hands.
Later, it is alleged, he choked her in the bedroom and slapped her on the head once more. Finally, the woman managed to escape to the bathroom, locked herself inside and called the police. As a result of the attack, the woman sustained injuries to her face, neck, hands and abdomen. The indictment charges the defendant with two offenses of assault causing actual bodily harm to a spouse.
