Received a fine from the municipality — and in response went on a revenge spree in the city streets
According to the investigation, an Ashdod resident set fire to several trash cans after receiving a municipal fine. Police officers from the Ashdod station located him shortly thereafter using witness testimonies and security camera footage.
Police officers from the Ashdod station have arrested a local resident on suspicion of involvement in several cases of arson involving trash cans throughout the city. According to the investigation, the suspect received a municipal fine and, in retaliation, traveled to multiple locations to set fire to four trash cans, causing property damage and endangering public safety.
Upon receiving reports of the arsons, police launched rapid investigative actions, including evidence collection, witness interviews, and the review of security camera footage. Within a short time, they identified the suspect, who was subsequently arrested and taken in for questioning.
Commander of the Ashdod station, Chief Superintendent Ronen Amram, stated:
'Arson of public property is a serious offense that endangers public safety and may cause significant damage to property or even harm human life. The officers of the Ashdod station acted quickly and decisively from the moment the report was received, utilizing investigative methods that led to the suspect's swift location and arrest. We will continue to maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward any manifestation of violence, vandalism, and damage to public property, for the sake of the safety and quality of life of the city's residents.'
