IDF forces conducted an airstrike in Gaza City over the weekend, eliminating Mahmoud Abd al-Fattah Awad, a commander in the military wing of the Hamas terrorist organization.
According to information released by the military, Awad actively participated throughout the war in holding seven Israeli hostages captive inside an underground tunnel in the Gaza City area.
The hostages held in that tunnel under his guard were Daniella Gilboa, Karina Ariev, Doron Steinbrecher, Naama Levy, Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, and Eitan Mor.
Recently, Awad promoted terror plots against IDF forces and Israeli citizens while working to rebuild Hamas capabilities in the Strip. The military defined these actions as a systematic ceasefire violation.
