TEL AVIV — The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet announced that following extended intelligence operations, Hamas Northern Brigade commander Izz al-Din Bik was eliminated this week in the Gaza Strip. Security agencies revealed that Bik personally commanded the captivity of numerous Israeli hostages throughout the ongoing war.

According to joint statements, Bik oversaw the detention of hostages including Maya Shem, Hisham al-Sayed, Amit Buskila, Uriel Baruch, Nick Beiser, Ron Sherman, Elia Toledano, Shani Louk, Michel Nisenbaum, Tamir Nimrodi, Itzhak Gelertner, Eitan Levy, Hanan Yablonka, Ron Benjamin, and Orion Hernandez.

"The elimination of the terrorist Izz al-Din Bik constitutes an important closing of the circle for the IDF and Shin Bet, who will continue to operate with force against terrorists who took part in the October 7 massacre," security officials stated.

Before assuming his role as Northern Brigade commander during the war, Bik held various positions, including West Jabalia Battalion commander and intelligence staff commander for the northern sector. Officials noted he promoted and funded numerous attacks against Israeli civilians and helped establish the elite Nukhba forces in northern Gaza, alongside personally participating in the October 7 invasion.
